How it works

From seed to sale, without losing the trail

Every state transition is approved by the right role and anchored to the ledger, replicated to the MAG, MINSA, and ICD nodes. This is how a batch travels through the whole system.

Orders and chains every event by hash before replicating it to the regulators' nodes. No single actor can rewrite history.

The production cycle

Seven stages, one continuous record

Every stage generates events anchored to the ledger. The chain grows, it's never rewritten.

01

Genetic origin

Imported seed or an in-house genetic cross. Every genetic line is recorded with its origin, phytosanitary certificate, and declared profile.

02

Cultivation

Germination, vegetation, and flowering. The area supervisor approves every internal movement covered by the cultivation license — no external sign-off needed for each step.

03

Harvest and post-harvest

Cutting the plant, hang drying, trim, and cure. Or the fresh-frozen route to the cold room for solventless extractions. Every transition is weighed and dated.

04

Transfer to processing

When crossing public roads from the grow farm to the lab, the agricultural regent issues the transport guide. The batch travels locked in transit until the pharmaceutical regent verifies receipt and weight.

05

Processing

Extraction, formulation, and product development: oils, tinctures, ointments, gummies, compounded formulas. All within the authorized facility.

06

Analysis and release

The lab's certificate of analysis enters the system. The regent reviews and releases the batch — or keeps it in quarantine if any parameter fails.

07

Sale

The released batch reaches the market with its documentation: to pharmacies, medical offices, or directly to patient treatment. Every unit that leaves is traced.

Technical consensus cycle

How an event travels through the network, step by step

From the moment an operator signs an event until it becomes immutable, the transaction passes through four stages of Hyperledger Fabric.

01

Signed at origin

The operator or regent logs the event — harvest, transfer, release — signed with their X.509 cryptographic certificate.

02

Peer endorsement

MAG and MINSA peers simulate the proposed transaction and verify it complies with the smart contract rules.

03

Consensus ordering

The ordering service groups the already-endorsed transactions into a new block, in the order they were validated.

04

Commit and immutability

Every node on the network syncs the block to its copy of the ledger. From that instant, the event is frozen forever.

Regulatory compliance

Designed to satisfy all three entities

Every control in the system responds to a concrete requirement of the Costa Rican legal framework. And each entity has its own node on the network.

MAG

Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock. Hemp and medicinal cultivation licenses, authorized surface area, and raw material transport guides.

MINSA

Ministry of Health. Processing, pharmaceutical regency, batch release, and legal classification of the finished product.

ICD

Costa Rican Institute on Drugs. Psychoactive cannabis transport with reinforced security protocols scaled to volume.
